A glacier that descends into a sea or ocean, and is influenced by the tidal cycles. The tides work against the glacier, calving the ice, and forms icebergs.

Tidewater Glacier

A lagoon lagoon at the glacier forefront fed by several receding tongues of outlet glaciers.

Proglacial Lagoon

Ice blocks formed from calving (breaking off) of glaciers. Icebergs are floated out to see by the tides influencing the glacial lagoon.

Iceberg

Ice crystals of the glacier absorb the visible spectrum colors of longer wavelengths found in the yellow to red part of the spectrum. The crystals allow shorter wavelenght\s to of the blue part of the spectrum to pass through. Air bubbles and other disconformities in the glacier ice can further scatter the blue color. The effect is caused by Rayleigh Scattering (Tyndall Effect). Visible light that scatters passing along a beam's path through an object or system containing discontinuities.
